Endodontic Retreatment
Did you know…
Teeth that have undergone endodontic retreatment can thrive for years, even a lifetime.
How it works: The endodontic retreatment process
Consultation & Disassembly
First, your endodontist will invite you to a consultation to discuss your options. If you both choose to move forward with retreatment, your endodontist will reopen your tooth and begin to disassemble the crown, post, and filling material to get access to the root canal.
Cleaning & Inspection
Your endodontist will then will thoroughly clean the canals and use a magnification lens to carefully inspect the inside of your tooth.
Seal & Fill
Next, your endodontist will fill and seal the canals. A temporary filling will be placed where the tooth was accessed from.
Follow Up
Once your retreatment procedure is finished, your endodontist will schedule follow-up visits if needed. You will then return to your general dentist will complete the permanent restoration, such as a new crown. This will protect, restore, and provide full functionality back to the tooth.
Endodontic Retreatment Benefits
Takes You Out Of Pain
Struggling with an infected root canal is extremely uncomfortable. In just one short visit, endodontic retreatment can get you out of pain almost instantly.
During the procedure, the area will be completely numbed, and you can even select a sedation option if you would like. Endodontic retreatment is one of the most efficient ways to soothe the pain and discomfort of a reinfected tooth.
Cost-Effective
Opting for endodontic retreatment can help you prevent costly procedures in the long run. Replacing an extracted tooth can take longer than root canal treatment due to follow-up appointments required for a denture, bridge, or implant; which can increase the overall cost. While every insurance is different, most plans cover endodontic treatment, so you can get the affordable care you need.
Looks & Feels Natural
After your endodontic treatment is complete, your general dentist will place a crown that looks and feels just like a natural tooth. Not only will this improve the overall health and function of your smile, but it can also boost your confidence, too!
